Healthy and nourishing chocolate milkshake

It’s almost impossible not to be in a good mood when enjoying a chocolate milkshake. But how about taking your delicious chocolate shake to a whole new level, making it healthy and nutritious whilst retaining that heavenly flavour?

A cocoa smoothie-shake is a delicious, creamy smoothie-shake that fills your body with nourishing anti-inflammatory and antioxidant vegetables and nutrients, which both satisfy your hunger and curb your sugar cravings.

Antioxidants strengthen the body’s own defences and have protective properties against, amongst other things, the sun, stress, lack of sleep and pollution, whilst anti-inflammatory ingredients are said to have a positive effect on inflamed and reddened skin.

This recipe contains vitamin A, which is a fat-soluble vitamin, so it’s important to consume it alongside fats so that your body can absorb it. So please don’t skip the oil in the recipe!

This recipe makes approx. ½ litre of smoothie

Fruit and vegetables can be used either frozen or fresh.

However, for this recipe, it’s best to use at least two frozen ingredients, as it’s best enjoyed cold.

  • 1/3 courgette
  • 1 dl black beans
  • 1 banana
  • 1 dl strawberries
  • The juice of 1 orange
  • 1 dl pitted dates (approx. 5)
  • 2 tsp rolled oats
  • 2 tbsp raw cocoa powder
  • ½ tsp vanilla powder
  • 2 dl plant-based drink*
  • 1 dl ice cubes
  • 1 tsp linseed oil
  • 2 tsp olives

*You can use, for example, oat milk, rice milk or almond milk

Method

Add all the ingredients to the blender, except the oil, and blend until you have a smoothie shake with no lumps.

Finally, add the linseed and olive oil, blend for a further 10 seconds, and the smoothie shake is ready to drink.
