Ten years ago, I met our master perfumer by a happy coincidence. This meeting opened the doors for me to continue my passionate journey into the magical world of fragrance.

“I fell in love with aromatherapy when I was living in London at the age of 18. A whole new world of scent opened up to me. It was far greater than anything I’d previously experienced with the perfumes I used as a young teenager.

In a small aromatherapy boutique in one of London’s narrow alleyways, I wandered amongst all manner of scents, and for the first time I felt the effect they had on me. My journey into the world of scent has unfolded ever since.’

Over the next ten years, whilst travelling as a fashion model, I took my favourite scents with me wherever I went. I spent a lot of my time in hotels, and upon arrival I always felt – and still feel – the need to ‘set the scene’; to fill the room with chosen scents and music to make myself feel at home. I would always light a lamp and drip essential oil or perfume onto the warm bulb to diffuse a sensuous scent through the heat into the room.

Ten years ago, I met our master perfumer by a stroke of luck. This opened the doors for me to continue my passionate journey into the magical world of fragrance. This meeting marked the beginning of Karmameju Skincare.

I am eternally grateful for our collaboration over the years. It has always been based on mutual respect; him as the master and me as the apprentice, and as the rebellious wild child who doesn’t always think we need to follow the rules.

It is very rare for a skincare brand to have a perfumer behind every fragrance. This is one of Karmameju’s many core strengths – uncompromising integrity behind every single fragrance.

Many years passed before I felt ready to create our first perfume. In an endless world of scents, how does one choose? I had to train and develop personally to ensure that I could capture the essence and scent of Karmameju’s first signature perfume. I had to build up a greater knowledge and experience before I could truly dance with the ancient art of perfumery.

There are countless perfumes on the market. Do we really need any more? Fortunately, we never tire of music, poetry, films, art… or sensuous scents. Precious, natural fragrances are not often used in the conventional perfume industry in such high concentrations, which leaves room to stand out from the crowd and explore the original art of aromatherapeutic perfumery.

In my view, natural scents are unrivalled and cannot be compared to synthetically produced fragrances. The natural, warm scent of the amber note labdanum or the magical drops from angelica root, the finest elixir from Bulgarian rose and the many other jewels found in nature – they captivate my nose and my heart.

That is why natural fragrances are a crucial part of our first signature fragrance. I am incredibly proud of the creation of POWDERBLOOM and of working with the ancient, natural art of perfumery.”
