Immune-boosting tea

Make your own tea, packed with beneficial nutrients to give your immune system a real boost. Ginger and lemon tea is a lovely blend to start the day with. The tea has a warming and slightly spicy flavour and is really good if you’re suffering from nausea, bloating or have digestive problems.

The recipe makes 1 cup

  • The juice of ½ a lemon
  • Approx. 2–3 cm of ginger, sliced
  • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper*
  • 1 tbsp organic, unfiltered apple cider vinegar + optional anti-inflammatory ginger, chilli or cayenne pepper, if you like a bit of a kick

+ if you need to sweeten the tea a little, add ½–1 tbsp organic honey.

Ideally, drink the tea in the morning before or with your breakfast, so your body gets the most out of the beneficial nutrients in the tea.

    Method

Pour boiling water into a cup and let it cool slightly

Add all the ingredients, leave to infuse for a couple of minutes, and the tea is ready

If you’re feeling brave, try eating a couple of slices of the ginger left in the cup after you’ve drunk the tea. Ginger has lots of beneficial properties, which you’ll get even more out of if you eat the root itself.

*Cayenne pepper is very hot, so start with a small amount and add more depending on how spicy you want the tea.

    A bit about the ingredients

Lemon juice: Lemon juice is packed with vitamin C, which is particularly good for the immune system and the skin. In addition, warm water with lemon juice can aid digestion, contribute to weight loss and help prevent kidney stones.

Ginger: Ginger root is an anti-inflammatory food, making it effective at reducing inflammation in the body. Ginger is also rich in potassium, which has a positive effect on blood pressure. Furthermore, ginger is effective against nausea, can relieve sore muscles and is good for the immune system.

Cayenne pepper: Cayenne pepper has been used as a medicine for many years. Cayenne pepper has a positive effect on digestion, as it increases the secretion of stomach acid and thereby enhances the absorption of other foods consumed at the same time. Cayenne pepper also helps to boost the metabolism and improve circulation.

Apple cider vinegar: Apple cider vinegar can help relieve bloating if drunk before a meal, as it helps to stimulate stomach acid production. Furthermore, apple cider vinegar has a stabilising effect on blood sugar levels.
