At a time when we’re overwhelmed with messages about what we must and ought to do, I believe in just one thing: DO YOU – be yourself, do what YOU need to do.

With around 7.8 billion people in the world, there must also be around 7.8 billion ways to do what’s right. There’s no one-size-fits-all approach, and my dream for you is that you’ll find the perfect way for you. To be yourself.

What your gut, your heart and your mind need is your guiding North Star.

DO YOU is about finding that inner connection to what gives you what you need to be yourself. What would you like to do, right now? It might sound selfish to think that way, because as children we were perhaps taught to ‘think of others before ourselves’ – which is loving and well-meaning, but only once we’ve checked inwith ourselves. You should always come first. You are the most important person in your life, and we dream of you taking centre stage on that beautiful stage: YOUR life.

Content with your choices.

Enjoying the present moment.

At peace in your thoughts.

Present in your actions.

DO YOU rather than DOING OTHERS. When you, first and foremost, DO YOU, what you have to offer others is so much greater. You will flourish and grow the more you listen to yourself. Which is truly beautiful in itself.

Listening to our intuition, turning our energy inwards and focusing on ourselves can be the hardest challenge of all. Yet it is often here that the greatest joys spring forth and come to life.

We practise throughout our whole lives. Some days we impress ourselves; other days we disappoint ourselves for failing to fulfil the intentions we’d set. And that’s exactly how it’s meant to be. Every day I practise, knowing full well that I’ll never reach the ultimate goal of my personal development. For life whirls us round and turns us upside down, quite naturally.

Perhaps if we lived quietly, in solitude, in nature, we would be less affected by the expectations of those around us – but even so, our hormonal balance, the position of the moon and the changing seasons still transform us. Change is within us, and we are therefore always evolving.

I’m practising DO YOU. I’m not a manifestation of DO YOU. I’m practising. As a mum, businesswoman, family member, devoted friend, partner and so on, I regularly find it difficult to sense what my own needs actually are. So I’m practising.

If you’d like, do have a read of this article, where I share some of the DO YOU rituals I enjoy practising.

When I prioritise myself, a gentle smile comes more naturally to my lips – and inside too. When I treat myself with respect and provide myself with what I need, I feel calmer and more present, happier and more content. It really is thought-provoking to realise that what I need is often the simplest little things.

So, what do YOU need? What connects you to your deepest needs? What helps you stay focused on prioritising YOU? What are the little everyday things that make you feel enriched? There’s no one-size-fits-all solution, which is why we’re all free to listen carefully to what our hearts are telling us, because they know what we need.

I hope that when you go to bed tonight, you can whisper lovingly to yourself: Today, I DID ME.

DO YOU is a dream I have for you, and for me.

All the best,

Mette
